Roberto Baltar
Roberto Baltar was appointed principal oboist of the North German Radio Philharmonic Orchestra (NDR Radiophilharmonie) at the age of 22. Since then, he has been a regular guest with renowned ensembles such as the Lucerne Festival Orchestra (LFO), Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (DSO), City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, West Australian Symphony Orchestra or the Orquestra de Cadaqués. He worked with Maestros such us Bernard Haitink, Sir Colin Davis, Riccardo Chailly, Andris Nelsons, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir Neville Marriner or Trevor Pinnock, and took part at the Menuhin Festival Gstaad, Salzburger Festival, BBC Proms, Edinburgh International Festival or Rheingau Music Festival.
Highlights as a soloist include the B. Martinu and W.A. Mozart Oboe Concertos with the Real Filharmonía de Galicia at Musika-Musica Festival in Bilbao (Spain), and W.A. Mozart Sinfonia Concertante for Winds with the NDR Radiophilharmonie under the baton of his Chief Conductor Andrew Manze. An enthusiastic chamber music player, he collaborated with the Danish String Quartet, Quantum Ensemble and the Airas Ensemble, whose last recording was received by the specialized critics with excellent reviews. Roberto has given masterclasses in different Spanish conservatories and worked with youth orchestras such as the National Youth Orchestra of Spain (JONDE), Galicia Youth Symphony Orchestra (OJSG) and the Andalusian Youth Orchestra (OJA). Between 2016-2019 he has been chamber music professor at the Master of the Escola de Altos Estudos Musicais de Galicia in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
In order to keep growing as a musician, he started conducting with Maestro Jorma Panula at his Academy in Finland and later extended his training at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerpen, where he completed his Master's studies cum laude. He has received advice from conductors such as Daniele Gatti (former Chief Conductor Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), Mark Stringer (Prof. University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna), Atso Almila (Prof. Sibelius Academy), Paul Daniel (former Musical Director l'Orchestre National Bordeaux) or Pablo González (former Chief Conductor Spanish Radio Symphony Orchestra RTVE).
He has been a laureate in several international competitions, including the Arthur Nikisch International Conducting Competition (Bulgaria), Erno Lanyi International Competition (Serbia), and recently won the second prize in the first edition of the Ferit Tüzün International Conducting Competition (Turkey). As an assistant conductor he has collaborated with the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen (Belgium) and during the 2016-2019 seasons he has been artistic director of the Orquestra Xove Vigo 430. Since then, he has conducted orchestras such as the Vaasa City Orchestra (Finland), Sinfonietta Cracovia (Poland), Çukurova State Symphony Orchestra (Turkey), Camerata Antonio Soler or the Real Filharmonía de Galicia.
